DBS CHECK POLICY
The Nanny Collective
Effective Date: 01.03.2025
1. Introduction
The Nanny Collective ('Agency') is committed to ensuring the highest safeguarding standards. This policy outlines our process for verifying the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) status of nannies.
2. DBS Check Requirements
• All nannies registered with The Nanny Collective must hold an **Enhanced DBS Check**.
• The DBS check must be issued within the last **12 months** or be registered on the **DBS Update Service**.
• If a nanny does not have a recent DBS, they must apply for one before being placed with a family.
3. Verification Process
• The Nanny Collective will request a **copy of the DBS certificate** from each nanny.
• If the nanny is registered on the **DBS Update Service**, we will verify their status online.
• Families are encouraged to request a copy of the nanny’s DBS for their own records.
4. Responsibilities of Nannies
• Nannies must ensure their DBS check remains valid and up to date.
• If a nanny’s DBS expires, they must renew it immediately.
• Any criminal convictions must be disclosed to The Nanny Collective.
5. Responsibilities of Families
• Families should review the nanny’s DBS certificate before hiring.
• The final decision to employ a nanny rests with the family.
• The Nanny Collective is not responsible for employment checks beyond DBS verification.
6. Data Protection & Confidentiality
• DBS details are stored securely and only used for verification purposes.
• DBS information will not be shared with third parties without consent.
• All records are managed in compliance with GDPR.
